Contemporary Chinese dress is both a tribute to the past and an exploration of the future.
A 2009 Art and Design alumna of Wuhan Textile University, Fang Yiyi has built her practice around fashion design and contemporary Chinese dress. She began her entrepreneurial work while studying, later opened an independent designer studio and led the team from a workshop into a company based in Optics Valley.
Her work explores how traditional dress can live in the present, bringing embroidery together with modern fabrics, colour and real wearing occasions. She also guides the team’s work in custom services, digital communication and functional apparel materials, connecting culture and technology with practical needs.
